This is my personal account about the bombardment of Vila and Bairoko Harbors on the night of July 4th and the morning of the 5th, 1943. It was the beginning of the Kula Gulf action that resulted in the loss of the destroyer USS Strong.
This is my story of the events that occurred to me that night, as best that I can remember after all these years.
