On 15 January 2004, as part of its annual symposium at Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia, the Surface Navy Association presented a Special Recognition Award to George Eisenberg for “ . . . capturing the faces of war and the spirit of shipboard life . . . in a hauntingly realistic and personally touching way. Every sailor who has seen your art is frozen in thought and memory . . . your ability to capture the souls of our sailors and ships . . . will last forever and is a legacy to our entire nation.”
