Strong and O'Bannon viewed from Fletcher

Cameras were not permitted on board most ships during World War II. Also, in the case of Strong, shipmates lost most of their belongings when she was sunk. Photos of the ship other than official photos are therefore unknown.
   The photo above is one of two taken from Fletcher off Espiritu Santo showing Strong and O’Bannon engaging in gunnery practice.

   The photos below show Strong closing Honolulu to transfer mail. Motion pictures of this sequence have also been preserved.
